In a conversation with Tony Barnfield recorded in the Memorial Chapel at King’s College, Cambridge, newly-Knighted Stephen Cleobury talks candidly and, at times, emotionally about his life and career in music. Beginning as a Chorister at Worcester Cathedral, Stephen first came to Cambridge in 1967 as Organ Scholar at St John’s College and returned to the city after appointments in Northampton and Westminster to become Director of Music at King’s College, where he ends a remarkable 37-year career this Summer. He talks about his family, newly settled in York, and his battle with serious ill health in the past year.
