Flying Pig landlady joins Cambridge Radio for new music show Amplify!

Justine Hatfield, the former landlady of beloved Cambridge pub and music venue The Flying Pig, is joining Cambridge Radio to present a new music programme.

Amplify! launches on Wednesday, May 6, at 7:00 p.m. The weekly show will feature the best new music from in and around Cambridge, with regular interviews and live sessions.

Joining Justine are presenters Scott King, Tom Dunleavy, Christine Schneider, and Fen. There will also be regular interviews from roving reporter Vince Taylor.

Justine said: “The Pig will always hold a very special place for me and for the many musicians who played there. I’m excited by the opportunity to bring the kind of fresh new music that we enjoyed at The Pig to Cambridge Radio listeners, as well as a few old favourites.”

Julian Clover, editorial lead at Cambridge Radio, said: “The Flying Pig had a deserved reputation as a place to hear local music with a Cambridge connection. We’re thrilled that Justine has agreed to join us, bringing with her an in-depth knowledge of local music over the past two decades.”

Cambridge Radio is committed to broadcasting local music, with regular sessions from the Cambridge Band Competition, Strawberry Fair, and the Cambridge Folk Festival.

Securing the future of Community Radio

Cambridge Radio is the Community broadcaster for Cambridge and South Cambs.

Our brief is to give a voice to those sometimes excluded from traditional media. And the presenters you hear on air are all volunteers themselves who give up their time for free. We do it because we believe our perspective matters – because it might well be your perspective, too.

If everyone who listens to our shows, our podcasts, the businesses we feature, helps to pay for it, our future would be much more secure.

You can support Cambridge Radio by giving monthly or by making a one-off contribution.
