New identity positions Cambridge as Birthplace of Modern Football

Cambridge University, Cambridge United and Cambridge City Council, have jointly launched a new visual identity and logo, recognising the city as the birthplace of modern football.  

In 1848, Cambridge University students drew up a set of football rules on Parker’s Piece — rules which later helped shape the Football Association’s laws of the game.

As historian Nigel Fenner explained to Julian Clover.
