Bank Holiday Radio Marathon for Oxjam Cambridge Music Festival

Cambridge 105 Radio is teaming up with Oxfam to kick off the Oxjam Cambridge Festival 2019.

On Bank Holiday Monday (May 27th), New Music Generator host and Oxjam Cambridge festival manager, Tim Willett will be hosting a 12-hour radio marathon that’s completely dedicated to local bands and artists.

Oxjam is an annual charity music festival held in locations across the country that raises money for Oxfam whose mission is to fight poverty worldwide. The Cambridge festival main event will take place in October with fringe events happening throughout the summer.

Monday’s radio marathon will kick off at 10am and will see Tim and a selection of Cambridge 105 Radio presenters joined in the studio by bands and artists for live sessions and interviews.

The afternoon will see a takeover of the Garden Room at The Alexandra Arms on Gwydir Street for live sets in front of an audience. Music will come from artists including Mark Shepherd, Datum Plane, Elizabeth & Jameson and Ffion Rebecca.

Since its inception in 2006, more than 50,000 musicians have played to an audience of more than 1.2 million people at over 4,000 Oxjam events.

The last Oxjam Cambridge Festival, in 2017 raised £2,500.

Cambridge 105 Radio is the ‘Home of Cambridge Music with its weekly flagship programme dedicated to local music The New Music Generator; and will once again broadcast from Strawberry Fair on Saturday 1st June with a live music stage.

The Oxjam Cambridge Fundraising Marathon will be broadcast on Cambridge 105 Radio from 10am to 10pm on Monday, 27th May.
