105 Breakfast: Mark Anstead from Cambridgeshire Wine School

Tim & Lottie celebrated the fact it’s Friday and invited Cambridgeshire Wine School’s Mark Anstead into the studio to talk about the best wines to go with Pancake Day and Valentines Day.

Innocent Bystander Pinot Noir Rose

RRP £12 but in Cambridge Wine Merchants it’s available for £8.95 or £6.46 by the case. Delightful rose wine from the cool climate Coldstream Hills in the Yarra Valley. Light, bright and pink, plenty of Raspberry fruit with a balancing note of musk and a faint floral flush. Properly independent winemakers creating terrific wines from grapes grown on family vineyards.

Sainsbury’s Vintage Rose Cava £10.49 but reduced to £7

For affordable Pink Champagne head over to Majestic where you can pick up Nicolas Feuillate Rosé Champagne NV with blueberry and raspberry flavours for just £20.

If you really want to impress your date, Joseph Perrior Cuvee Josephine 2004 comes in a gorgeously gold-leafed decorated bottle. It’s £85 from Cambridge Wine Merchants and retail director Linsdsey Spellman describes the visual impression as ‘knicker-dropping’.

Two sweet wines:

For a reasonable £6.49 you can enjoy the sweet grapey flavours of Tabali Chilean Muscat but you should really try the multiple Gold & Trophy winning Seifried Estate Sweet Agnes Riesling for £14.99. This has heavenly ripe lime, passion fruit and rosy apple with swirls of sweet honey. These prices are for half bottles
