A hosepipe ban is being introduced across Cambridge and surrounding areas for the first time in more than 30 years.
Cambridge Water says record demand during the hot, dry weather means customers must stop using hosepipes immediately. Enforcement will begin on the 17th of July.
The company says daily water use has risen by almost 30 per cent in recent weeks, putting pressure on local groundwater and the region’s internationally important chalk streams.
