Dear All,
just to bring you up to date with what’s happening with Cambridge105:
We are still waiting for Ofcom’s approval of the transfer of the licence from 209radio.
As we all know these things tend to take their time, so rest assured as soon as we know, you will.
Some changes have taken place:
Sadly, Karl has decided to resign completely from the project due to ill health (see email below).
This means the management group and directors now consist of Steve Potter, Tony Sayer, Axel Minet and Pete Monaghan.
We are meeting weekly, and work still continues in preparation for a positive outcome, ie programming planning, community and business links etc…
Expect another update from us in the coming weeks regarding programming and any other relevant news.
If you would like to contact us about anything please email volunteer@cambridge105.co.uk
Cheers,
Cambridge105
Steve, Pete, Tony and Axel

Dear all
I hope you’re well.
I am writing to let you know that, after much soul-searching, I’m stepping down from the Cambridge105 project.
This is for 2 main reasons: firstly, it has become clear to me and those I love how the last 7 years have affected me.
Let me be clear about this, it’s not all doom and gloom! Not many people could sustain the levels of involvement and activity that Lucy and I did forever and fewer still would wish to keep it going at that level.
A community radio project is a time and space-hungry beast that can and does deliver enormous benefit; to give community radio in Cambridge the energy it really deserves will take someone with significantly larger reserves that I currently have.
Secondly, our (Lucy and my) lives have recently become rather complicated in several areas. The main one being that Lucy herself has been made redundant from her job as well.
Many of you know that we’ve wanted to travel the world for quite some time; we’re now in a position to be able to do this and we therefore cannot turn away from what I hope you all agree is a spectacular opportunity in life that may not come around again for us in this form.
We all know that 209 had its difficulties but I shall never let go of the positive and far-reaching consequences of our work. There are those of you who are now heading up important community networks, others who are on a path to recognition within radio, others who have simply (but often more importantly) found things in yourselves that you either never knew you had or how to use in the ways you now can. There are still others who have simply had a great time and made new friends. These are all vital goals for community radio and reaching those goals had everything to do with with those aiming for them- you.
I beg you now to take all those positive things, examine and learn from the lessons the last few years have given us and use it all to create a new and sustainable service that is owned and operated by Cambridge people and groups.
I urge you to support and work with Pete, Axel, Tony and Steve; the more collective responsibility is taken, the easier and more rewarding it will be for all.
It’s often said that the most enjoyment in travelling is in the preparation, the travelling itself and your return home. Before we even leave Cambridge (end of the summer) I’m already looking forward to hearing your voices on Cambridge airwaves when we return in a year or so.
With all my love
K
