July Update

Dear all,

We thought it was time for another update, so….

  • Most importantly! Ofcom has approved the license transfer from 209radio to Cambridge105 with immediate effect.
  • Due to this being a license transfer we were obliged to start broadcasting immediately upon receipt of the license. We received notification on Monday afternoon that the transfer would occur the following day, Tuesday. On Tuesday evening we debuted with Sammy B-Side spinning some late night Hip-Hop. On Wednesday evening we had uplifting Reggae, Ska and Rocksteady with Kuryakin from Cambridge Revelation 2000. Thursday saw the debut of The House of Rock and Resistance Radio and Friday was Bass in your Face! Tune in any time to hear the daytime play list (still very much in the embryonic stage).
  • Premises. Now we have a license, we are now working on the completion of the final contract.

What next?

At the moment we are specifically looking for the following contributions:

  • Presenters with some broadcasting experience for evening & weekend specialist music programmes, particularly anyone who could record a show at home.
  • Experienced presenters for the daytime slots, especially the breakfast and drive time slots.

If you do not feel you fit into the above, do not worry – in the coming months we will need your help with fundraising, admin, technical support and a whole range of other opportunities. At the moment we simply need to focus our attention on getting some content up and running before we can commence training sessions for those who are new to radio.

In the meantime, please:

  • Keep up to date via the website, http://cambridge105.co.uk , which will be live by the end of the weekend.
  • Follow us on Facebook, http://www.facebook.com/cambridge105
    and Twitter, http://twitter.com/cambridge105
  • Send us your thoughts on what you would like to hear on your community radio station.
    email: suggestions@cambridge105.co.uk
  • Please send us a list of your favourite songs, this will help us build the daytime playlist.
    email: playlist@cambridge105.co.uk

Thank you to everyone who has stuck with us….Cambridge105 is on the air, let’s make it a station to be proud of!

All the best from

Tony, Steve, Pete, Axel & the rest of the Cambridge105 team

Securing the future of Community Radio

Cambridge Radio is the Community broadcaster for Cambridge and South Cambs.

Our brief is to give a voice to those sometimes excluded from traditional media. And the presenters you hear on air are all volunteers themselves who give up their time for free. We do it because we believe our perspective matters – because it might well be your perspective, too.

If everyone who listens to our shows, our podcasts, the businesses we feature, helps to pay for it, our future would be much more secure.

You can support Cambridge Radio by giving monthly or by making a one-off contribution.
