Local MP Julian Huppert came into Cambridge 105 recently as part of his search for local talent to participate in Rock the House.
The competition celebrates the best of up-and-coming unsigned British artists and the live music venues that support them and as such makes for a perfect fit with Cambridge 105’s New Music Generator programme that champions artists from in and around Cambridge.
“There’s great stuff here and Cambridge currently has the second greatest number of entries and I hope we’re not just top in the number of entries, but top overall,” Dr Huppert told presenter Tim Willett. “I’m one of those people who can’t really work unless they’ve got headphones on. I’ll listen to anything that’s interesting and different. I don’t really care what sort of music it is unless it’s good.
Dr Huppert said he is a regular at the Cambridge Folk Festival and the Strawberry Fair, but that his work as an MP prevented him from going to as many gigs as he would like.
Nominations for Rock the House close on March 1 and can be made by going to: www.rockthehousehoc.com where you will be able to select a category, fill in your postcode and select Julian as your MP. You will then be able to select a track for Julian to listen to or a video for him to watch.
