Flavour 23/03/2013: Eat Cambridge; Cobs Bakery; The Larder

In this edition of Flavour:

  • The Eat Cambridge food & drink festival made a big splash when it began a fortnight ago, with over 3,000 visitors to the main Guildhall event. Flavour catches up with one of the organisers; Caroline Biggs to discuss how it went.
  • Alan Ackroyd is Head Baker over at Cobs Bakery, famous for its organic, additive-free bread. And with Easter around the corner (and hot cross buns in every shop corner), we thought we’d pay a visit.
  • You don’t have to look long to find event in Cambridgeshire, there’s a Beer Festival coming soon at The Green Man in Grantchester.
  • The Larder at Burwash Manor makes its move to larger premises to incorporate a butcher and delicatessen, don’t forget to pick up your Burwash Bacon, sample Romano’s Italian pastries and have a gluten free pint.
  •  Meanwhile Wine critic Tom Lewis joins the Flavour team in the studio to bring us his ‘Wines of the Month’, and Gerla Pusey de-Boer of Cambridge Food Tours tells us about her latest Vegetarian and Spice Route’tours.
  • This episode also brings you excerpts from a recent food & drink debate held at a Corpus Christi lecture theatre, and we round off the programme with the latest culinary articles from the day’s newspapers.

Securing the future of Community Radio

Cambridge Radio is the Community broadcaster for Cambridge and South Cambs.

Our brief is to give a voice to those sometimes excluded from traditional media. And the presenters you hear on air are all volunteers themselves who give up their time for free. We do it because we believe our perspective matters – because it might well be your perspective, too.

If everyone who listens to our shows, our podcasts, the businesses we feature, helps to pay for it, our future would be much more secure.

You can support Cambridge Radio by giving monthly or by making a one-off contribution.
