Over Players – Calendar Girls

Following the death of a much-loved husband, a group of ordinary women in a small Yorkshire Women’s Institute are prompted to do an extraordinary thing and set about creating a nude calendar to raise money for charity. The story of the Calendar Girls launched a global phenomenon: a million copycat calendars, a record-breaking movie, stage play and now a musical written by Gary Barlow and Tim Firth.

The Over Players was formed in 1984, celebrating their 40th anniversary last year. They generally produce two large productions each year – a Spring show in May/June, and a pantomime in December. Membership starts at age 11 with no upper age limit – and there are a number of members who have been involved since day one! The members are from Over as well as surrounding areas, including Willingham, St Ives, Fenstanton, Swavesey, Northstowe and Huntingdon.
