London City Ballet
Tuesday October 6–Wednesday October 7
£20.50In this centenary year of American choreographer Glen Tetley, London City Ballet pay homage by reviving the gothic retelling of Firebird. Originally made for the Royal Danish Ballet, this fresh take illustrates a young woman breaking free from the constraints of a controlling family – a pioneer flying the nest, embracing her differences and liberating her peers.
Mephisto Waltz by Ashley Page, an exuberant curtain raiser perfect to introduce the technical prowess of each dancer of the company, opens the performance and Jerome Robbins’ lost gem Quiet City returns to the stage, meeting a taste of the new as the company proudly introduce rising Choreographic star Tasha Chu with her latest work Soon.
Recognised by the Critics Circle at the National Dance Awards winning Best Independent Company, London City Ballet has found its feet and is forging new, fascinating paths ahead.
Tickets – From £20.50
