Eddington Carnival
Friday July 17
One of Cambridge’s biggest free community festivals is back this July, as Eddington Carnival returns for two days of family fun, live entertainment and international culture.
Taking place on Friday 17 July (1pm–9pm) and Saturday 18 July (12pm–9pm) at the Cricket Pitch in Eddington, the Carnival builds on the success of last year’s inaugural event with an even bigger programme celebrating the diversity of one of Cambridge’s newest communities.
Across the two days, visitors can enjoy live music, dance performances, creative workshops, children’s entertainment, sports activities and a wide range of food and drink. Headline acts include The Koala Syndicate on Friday and Cores Do Samba on Saturday, alongside a special preview of this year’s Cambridge Folk Festival.
Families are especially well catered for, with fairground rides, magic shows, football activities, LEGO building, arts and crafts, bubble fun, scavenger hunts and interactive sessions from local museums. Friday also features a visit from K-Pop Demon Hunter Rumi, Hartbeeps Cambridge and Jumping Jemma’s School’s Out Disco, while Saturday’s colourful Eddington Parade invites children to make flags and masks before joining the procession.
Adults can enjoy live music, dance workshops, fitness sessions, street magic, local makers’ stalls and community organisations, while food vendors will be serving cuisine from around the world alongside local cafés and bars.
Funded by the University of Cambridge and supported by partners including The Hill Group, the Carnival aims to bring residents together through culture, creativity and community spirit while showcasing everything Eddington has to offer.
Admission is free, although organisers recommend registering in advance to help manage visitor numbers
What’s Ons are broadcast across the day at 7.50, 10.30, 1.30 and 4.30, and at weekends.
