Cambridge bands perform for community radio and charity fundraising

OxjamLive music and fundraising is very much on the agenda for Cambridge 105 over the next few weeks.

Sonic Delights Fundraiser

This coming Friday (October 18th) Cambridge 105’s Sonic Delights is running a special fundraiser event at The Portland Arms. You’ll hear music from The Narrow Sound, JP Hall, Biscuits For Bears and headlining The Centimes.

Ben & Ivan, who present Sonic Delights on the volunteer-run community station– as well as the bands – have given up their time to raise money for us.

Doors open at 7.30 and entry is just £5.

Oxjam Cambridge

The next day (October 19th) Cambridge 105 will be stationed at The Emperor for Oxjam Cambridge.

From 7pm Tim Willett presents live performances from Lexie Green & The Indigo Blue (8pm), AlicebanD (9pm), The Mojo Slide (10pm) and Goldstar (11pm) broadcast live on 105 FM and online at cambridge105.co.uk.

Oxjam is Oxfam’s month-long music festival. It runs all through October with hundreds of events around the UK, all organised by volunteers who know and love their local music scene, all raising money to save lives around the world.

NMG Awards

Cambridge 105 is launching a music awards night that will celebrate and recognise the talent of the local music scene in Cambridge and surrounding towns and villages across all music genres and ages.

The NMG Awards evening will take place on October 24, 2013 at The Portland Arms, Cambridge. Highlights will be broadcast the following Saturday (October 26th)

The event is part of the community radio station’s flagship live music show, the New Music Generator.

Limited tickets are available at £5 plus a 50p booking fee and can be purchased from www.nmgawards.com.

Children in Need 2013

Cambridge 105’s distinctive OB van Flossie will be broadcasting from locations around the city with live music performances – and of course our team of fundraisers collecting for children in the UK and overseas. In 2012 we raised £1,651.30, more than double our target.

If you would like to join us on the day please email tim@cambridge105.co.uk

Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning

Our most recent fundraiser was held at our Gwydir Street studios and collected £166.51 for practical, medical and financial support for those living with cancer.

Securing the future of Community Radio

Cambridge Radio is the Community broadcaster for Cambridge and South Cambs.

Our brief is to give a voice to those sometimes excluded from traditional media. And the presenters you hear on air are all volunteers themselves who give up their time for free. We do it because we believe our perspective matters – because it might well be your perspective, too.

If everyone who listens to our shows, our podcasts, the businesses we feature, helps to pay for it, our future would be much more secure.

You can support Cambridge Radio by giving monthly or by making a one-off contribution.
