Cambridge 105 has scooped the Bronze award for Marketing and Station Sound of the Year in the first Community Radio Awards.
The community station that broadcasts from the City Centre on FM, Online and DAB Digital Radio made it into the shortlist of five alongside Drystone Radio, CSR, Angel Radio and BRFM 97.6.
Stations had to demonstrate how they engage and promote themselves within their community using effective station imaging, production and marketing campaigns.
The awards were announced at a special ceremony at Birmingham City University on Saturday 10 September, with Drystone Radio grabbing Gold and student station CSR winning Silver.
Cambridge 105’s Head of Production, Matt Webb said: “This is a massive achievement for the radio station. Cambridge 105 is proud to have a consistent on-air sound across our daytime and specialist output and sits perfectly alongside our neighbours on the radio dial. It proves you can produce award-winning imaging on a really tight budget – and of course, creativity costs nothing”.
Separately, 105 Breakfast presenter Linda Ness secured Silver for her work on 21st Century Women, broadcast by neighbouring station HCR.
The Community Radio Awards launched this year and are designed to celebrate the work of those in the community radio sector across the country.
