Cambridge 105 has revealed its coverage plans for stage 3 of Le Tour de France, when the race visits Cambridge on Monday July 7.
The coverage, which will see the station utilise over 20 reporters, is the largest in geographical terms the community radio station has broadcast so far.
On race day, a special ‘105 Breakfast at Le Tour De France’ will air live from the city centre at 7am. Keeping you up to date with all the latest news, travel, road closures, public transport changes and pre-race build up, including the grand unveiling of the signing in podium at 8:30am.
You’ll also get the chance to hear a range of cycling and Tour de France interviews that have been conducted as part of our pre-race on air coverage.
From 10am, presenters Matt Webb and Tim Willett will be live on Parker’s Piece bringing you live coverage of the event from our reporters lining the route and reaction from spectators and members of the cycling community.
At 3pm as Cambridge gets home, Julian Clover will present an extended 105 Drive keeping you informed of all the travel disruption, as the city’s roads begin to re-open and crowds disperse. Highlights from all the day’s action will also feature heavily throughout the programme.
Presenter Matt Webb, who has been organising the coverage says: “We will be utilising our extensive experience in outside broadcasts and the skills of all our presentation team on the day. As we are programmed locally, this allows us to be a portal of information on the lead up to the race, and on the day. This will ensure that you can rely on Cambridge 105 to keep you in the know. From travel updates, to how the British riders are progressing along the route – you won’t miss a pedal”.
