Cambridge 105 announces Christmas holiday schedule

Merry ChristmasA live broadcast of Midnight Mass, a replay of the recent royal visit by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and recordings of some of the city’s finest musicians are among the highlights of the Cambridge 105 Christmas schedule.

Christmas Eve sees the final 105 Breakfast with Neil & Lottie as Neil Whiteside leaves the show after two years. A specially extended programme will run from 7am to 10am.

Glenn Jones will also present his final morning show at 10am before moving to the afternoon in the New Year.

Twins Carlie & Jess Foster return with two special ‘2-4-1’ shows for teenage listeners on Christmas Eve and December 28th.

For the first time Cambridge 105 is broadcasting Midnight Mass live from Our Lady and the English Martyrs Church on Hills Road. Julian Clover presents our coverage that begins at 11.00pm.

On Christmas Day morning, Pete Robbins presents a live show from 8am to 11am, with requests and dedications as Cambridge wakes up.

Later in the day there’s a chance to relive some of 105’s best bits of the year including Neil & Lottie’s Top 10 songs of 2012 (11-12pm), the New Music Generator (NMG) Sessions Under 18s featuring Boiling Point, 28 Boulevard and Grace Sarah (12-3pm), highlights of the Royal Visit from 3-5:30pm, highlights of the Olympic Torch coverage from 7:30-9pm, a special Smelly Flowerpot show from 9-11pm and a another chance to hear the NMG Session featuring Isaac’s Aircraft and Motor Tapes from 11pm-1am.

On Boxing Day (December 26th) you can hear highlights of the recent Mill Road Winter Fair.

Phil Rowe will host a special Holiday Breakfast show, from Boxing Day through to January 4th, alongside co-presenter Sarah Yorke.

Matt Webb presents Drive across the holiday period with the regular news, weather and travel to help get listeners home.

Other daytime programmes will be presented by regular 105 team members Julian Clover, Claire Craig, Jack Saunders, Paul Christoforou, Pete Robbins, Kevin Peters and Hayley Rose.

There are also special editions of our local football magazine From The Terraces (December 27th), indie music show Underdog (December 27th), Sarah’s Sweet Beats (December 28th) and Sport Zone (January 1st).

Securing the future of Community Radio

Cambridge Radio is the Community broadcaster for Cambridge and South Cambs.

Our brief is to give a voice to those sometimes excluded from traditional media. And the presenters you hear on air are all volunteers themselves who give up their time for free. We do it because we believe our perspective matters – because it might well be your perspective, too.

If everyone who listens to our shows, our podcasts, the businesses we feature, helps to pay for it, our future would be much more secure.

You can support Cambridge Radio by giving monthly or by making a one-off contribution.
