She journeyed from a smalltown upbringing in Canada to Greenwich Village in New York to Laurel Canyon in Los Angeles, and musically from acoustic folk to jazz rock and beyond. On the way she had close relationships with a number of key figures on the musical scene of the late 20th century, including Graham Nash, Leonard Cohen, James Taylor and Jackson Browne. On the show, Chris will be joined by Les Ray from our "Strummers & Dreamers" show to talk about and listen to the mentions that Joni and these "temporary lovers" (Coyote) make of each other in their songs.
