The UK record charts started in late 1952. Beforehand all that was published were the sales of sheet music. A new book published earlier this year has lovingly and painstakingly recreated the UK charts by going back to the actual weekly sales information kept by the record companies themselves from 1940. So, tonight Greg and Darren will be playing some of the UK number one records from the time before the charts started. Programme Website
