Cambridge United
This week’s visitors to the Cambs Glass are Mansfield, and the Stags are certainly more of a threat than their mid-table position suggests. Steve Evans has come in and made the Stags a solid unit who haven’t conceded in four games.
Cambridge continue their great form, now are league games unbeaten, however, teams are certainly coming into games, especially when the U’s are at home, with a different game plan. Last week we saw Blackpool come and soak up pressure and play on the break and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a similar situation this weekend. Last season we saw these teams play out goalless draws in both games and that result wouldn’t be a surprise again.
Both teams do have goals in them however, and it will be interesting to see what Uche Ikpeazu can do against a resolute defence such as this. The U’s have taken steps to improve their defence and put the pressure on Legge and Roberts with the signing of Scott Wharton on loan from Blackburn. The 19-year-old centre-half has made five appearances in the Championship this season and will provide good competition at the back.
After last week’s predictions, Jack and Lewis both sit on 1 point and Matt sits on 0, with no one getting a perfect score. What do the boys have to say this week?
Matt says: I think the Stags will shut the U’s down and be happy with the point, 0-0
Jacks says: Cambridge will be hurting after wasting their chance for all 3 points against Blackpool, but buoyed by new signings and no midweek match I believe the U’s will grab the win, 2-1
Lewis says: Mansfield have been a bit shy in front of goal this season, scoring an average of one a game. I can’t see them troubling the U’s but I can’t see it being a big win either, 1-0 to the U’s
Cambridge City
Cambridge City aren’t in action this weekend and their midweek game against Cinderford was postponed.
Histon FC
Histon host Chalfont St Peter this weekend at the Glassworld Stadium and are looking to make it an unlikely 3 home wins on the bounce and 4 wins in a row. If the Stutes could pull this off it would be huge in their bid to survive the league, they are still deep in the relegation zone but they are clawing back each week. Their mid-table opponents are comfortable in the league but haven’t won away since November and with that in mind, Histon will fancy their chances, after coming back from 2 goals down last week to win 3-2 confidence hasn’t been this high for years.
