Using the 105 News Dropbox

The 105 News Dropbox is the repository for news scripts and reports that are used on air. There’s also a number of training materials. Please put any such reports you may use here – it’s much more convenient that having to later find that report from the ROT.

You’ll need to sign up for an account from the Dropbox website. www.dropbox.com

You can access the files here, download the Dropbox app for your smart device, or the Mac/PC app that allows you to store the folders directly on your machine.

Any content downloaded will count towards your allocation.

To make sure the folder doesn’t get too full there’s a separate 105 News Archive where material is moved to after a few weeks. You can have access to that folder on request.

News Scripts are organised by month. If you’re reading a bulletin a copy of your main script should be saved here. (You’re probably writing different versions of some of the stories to vary each hour, so paste any major changes at the foot of your document).

The Reports folder will sync with news local on Rivendell and should only be used for reports/features that are ready to go to air. Please only use .mp3s

By placing reports in this folder they can be used later by other shows including 105 Today.

Remember if you delete an item from a shared folder it is deleted for all the other users too.

Please try to follow the Sky naming convention of SUBJECT SPEAKER (these are called slugs!)

That’s to say

FLAVOUR ANNIVERSARY

LOVE GOLF CHAMBERS

OPEN STUDIOS FRENCH

RAIL HUGHES

RAIL HUGHES LONGER

It really does make things easier when searching for clips later.

The other way around is confusing

CLOVER WAITROSE (It’s about butter, right?)

If we’re already talking about a subject use the same one in your clip. For example
OPEN STUDIOS FRENCH not OPEN COOPER

If it’s been taken from BBC Cambs then

BBC A14 AMORE

BBC A14 BRIDGE

You can place scripts in the appropriate Google Doc on the Chrome screen in the Gwydir Street Studios – or ask to be granted access to the document directly.
