After an exhausting hunt for suitable station premises, we found a council-owned building at Gwydir Enterprise Centre that seemed promising. It was first spotted by volunteer Catherine Kemp, who joined Cambridge105 earlier on in the year:
I’ve been involved with 105 since pestering Axel in the spring and asking if there was anything I could do to help. I now come to the committee meetings each week and have been mainly working on the grant application side of things, with a few newsletters, surveys and spreadsheets thrown in for good measure.

We first saw the premises in August 2010 and immediately fell in love- it ticked all the right boxes; centrally located, compact and affordable. Property like this doesn’t come up very often in Cambridge and we decided to take the plunge.
Several months of necessary repairs and maintenance followed, and we officially started our lease from October 2010.
After this, it was up to us to design and build the studios. Many hours of agonising over floor plans later, we had chalk lines on the floor and were ready to roll.
We approached Travis Perkins regarding building materials and were overjoyed to find out that they would not only provide everything we needed for free, but also offered help and delivery!
