Shelford Women Wrap Up Women’s NC1 East Campaign

Sociable women’s Rugby Union team Shelford Women has recorded an incredible 34-0 win against the Wymondham Wasps. The team that plays in the Women’s National Challenge – Midlands 1 League was eager to make amends for its only defeat at the beginning of the season. Shelford proved once again revenge is a dish best served cold. Their effort during the final home game also helped them wrap up the title-winning promotion campaign part of the Women’s NC1 East in great style.

Shelford Showed a Lot of Determinationwomen's rugby sports betting

As anticipated, the match against the Wymondham Wasps was quite demanding from a physical point of view. However, the team managed to prove a lot of determination and improvement in spite of the pressure that the visitors exercised right off the bat, early into the match. Full-back Katie Segrave did an excellent job standing against a breakaway runner thirsty for a goal. Later on, Millie Rose scored and brought Shelford into the lead with 5-0 at halftime.

During the second half, the team gained even more momentum as their competitors began feeling the pressure of the match. As more holes were punched in the Wasps’ defence line, Charlotte Gisbourne touched down and Segrave managed to convert and score. Lauren Poppitt scooped up Jess Norris’ excellent kick and ran through the gap she found in the defence and touched down. Leanne Robinson accomplished a 20-metre break, while Lesley Sonnen came to support her efforts and scored a touchdown.

Georgie Harris was crowned “player of the match” by players, while Jess Norris received the same honourable titles on behalf of the coaches. Leanne Robinson received the presidents’ accolade.

Shelford Is One Win Away From the London League 1N Crown

Shelford’s previous victory against Amersham & Chiltern with 29 to 20 helped the team move just one win from the London League 1N crown. The team can be seen training at the Davey Field on Cambridge Road just south of Cambridge on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 7 PM. Their matches are scheduled for play on the weekends starting at 2 PM.

The friendly team likes to train hard, play hard, and run a series of engaging social events, including a yearly tour held in May. During the tours, the team travels overseas to take part in a series of social rugby events. They also welcome anyone interested in meeting new people, getting into shape, and having fun to contact them via email at shelfordwomen@gmail.com or simply show up at their training.

Women’s Sports On the Rise?

No matter if you’re attracted to the idea of watching women compete in sporting events where men are known to hold a monopoly, you are eager to cheer for the ladies and watch their amazing performances on the field, or you are just curious to watch something else besides Cambridge United beating Newcastle United, try women’s sports.

While women’s rugby union was played seriously for the first time at the end of the seventies, the sport has come a really long way over the years. The early teams were created via student networks such as College, Keele University, and University College of London. The first Women’s Rugby World Cup was organised in Cardiff in 1991 and it welcomed 12 countries. The tournament was held over a week and England, France, the USA, and New Zealand were the semi-finalists. The USA beat England 19 – 6 in the finals held at Cardiff Arms Park. Three years later, England gained its revenge with a 38–23 score in the grand final.

If you’re looking to have even more fun watching Shelford and other women go head to head in rugby competitions that used to be entirely dedicated to men, you may also want to consider sports betting online on women’s sports. With so many excellent options to look into, including football, basketball, tennis, gymnastics, volleyball, golf, and rugby, and numerous sources to get you started, you should master the basics in no time. Plus, there are plenty of excellent bookmakers you can access both online and online, all packed with valuable information and insights into games and predictions. Don’t forget about the professional commentary from sports betting aficionados that will help you every step of the way.

The standard sports viewing experience is prone to become much more exciting and engaging once you will get access to interesting statistics and predictions made by experts in the field. Of course, you could also monetise your passion for watching women’s sports by placing multiple bets on powerful women you believe could beat the odds.
