Sending Schedule Info

Please send details of what’s coming up in your show a good four days ahead or at the very latest 48 hours before broadcast.  The same applies to any on-air promos.

(The later it’s sent, the less likely it is to be included).

The address is schedule@cambridge105.co.uk

It goes to Lucy, Julian and Steve, but do use this address, as it saves the mail getting lost in a full inbox.

Why do we need it so soon? Well, newspapers and even online listings sites normally work several days if not weeks in advance. The Schedule pages are among the most read on the website.

How we write the listings is important too. Your show already has its own page, so what we need is what’s special about this week’s edition, a special guest, a featured artist, a new feature, and of course who’s presenting.

  • We don’t need long lists of songs or artists. Listeners could easily compile their own list on Spotify rather than listen to your show – and some artists could also be a turnoff. There’s nothing wrong with a standard description.
  • Always write in the third person. “Fred will be looking around Cambridge” as opposed to “I’ll be looking around Cambridge”.
  • There is no need to italicise Song titles, movies, songs, albums, etc or us single or double quote marks.
  • If you have a guest, do get their title correct, there’s no need to say what time they’re appearing (other than to the guest!)
  • Keep it short – remember someone, maybe you, will also be reading it on air.
  • There’s no need to use phrases like, “So join me Tuesday at 8 o’clock”.
  • And remember your show is a part of Cambridge 105 Radio, not something that is taking over the airwaves for an hour. So on this show, not on our show.

Take a look at these examples.

Leigh Chambers
Leigh’s sitting in for Phil and her guest is Richard Spaul, from In Situ Theatre. Richard will be talking about The Measure for Measure Project, an opportunity for actors to explore one of Shakespeare’s ‘problem plays’ over ten weeks.

Steffi Callister
Tamsin Wimhurst, Chair of Trustees at the David Parr House, tells Steffi about a new donation from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

John Gannon’s 60s Scene
John Gannon selects tracks from the 60s, along with the Guitar Twangers’ Corner, plus the Top 10 from this day in 1966.

And if you want to see how the pros do it, here’s the Radio 2 Schedule
