2024 marks 20 years since student radio station 87.7 Flava FM took to the airwaves of the city.

The station was run by students studying the BTEC National Diploma in Media Radio Broadcasting course at Cambridge Regional College in 2004 and 2005.

Matt Webb catches up with his former classmate and Flava FM colleague Michael O’Neill to look back at the radio station and the media course attached to it.

Securing the future of Community Radio

Cambridge 105 Radio is the Community broadcaster for the city and South Cambridgeshire.

Our brief is to give a voice to those sometimes excluded from traditional media. And the presenters you hear on air are all volunteers themselves who give up their time for free. We do it because we believe our perspective matters – because it might well be your perspective, too.

If everyone who listens to our shows, our podcasts, the businesses we feature, helps to pay for it, our future would be much more secure.
