Both the Cambridge Summer Music Festival and BBC Proms begin this week and Tony Barnfield talks here to David Hill, Director of the Cambridge festival for the second year running. In Sunday’s programme, Tony also visited Broadcasting House to quiz Radio 3 Controller Alan Davey CBE and Proms Director David Pickard, as the BBC music network faces increased competition from recently-launched Scala Radio. Also, former Cambridge 105 presenter Chris Berrow, now to be heard on Radio 3, catches up with Tony and launches his “Pick of the Proms”.

Cambridge 105 Radio is the Community broadcaster for the city and South Cambridgeshire.

Our brief is to give a voice to those sometimes excluded from traditional media. And the presenters you hear on air are all volunteers themselves who give up their time for free. We do it because we believe our perspective matters – because it might well be your perspective, too.
