It’s great to have a picture of a guest in the studio and they’ll often share on their own social media too. Don’t forget to tag us.
On X we’re @cambridgeradio, while on Facebook and Instagram, it’s @cambridgeradiouk
If you’re sending a picture in advance to schedule@cambridge.radio, don’t forget most of the images used on the site are Landscape rather than portrait. The website will sometimes crop a picture in a different way for a separate section, take a look at the homepage of the website. It’s automatic, so a picture that’s the wrong size might see a head decapitated!
Please ensure that you own the copyright for the picture – that usually means that you’ve taken it yourself or it’s been issued to promote the artist/guest on your show – and NOT just lifted from Google.
As guidance, it’s best if pictures are at least 1,200 by 900 pixels. Larger still if they’re to be used in print.
You’ll sometimes see Square pictures on social media.
Web Editors: If your picture is slightly larger, or out of proportion, you can trim them within WordPress. You can even create a separate image that will appear as the thumbnail. For example head and shoulders of a guest.
It’s also important that all pictures are labelled correctly – that helps us be better found on search engines like Google.
