Day 7 saw Jez heading off through Wakefield. He was making better time than yesterday when he ended up walking for virtually eight hours.
Jez revealed, for those who didn’t already know, that his left leg was a bit of a medical nightmare as not only has he had knee reconstruction work, but he also has a plate and four screws in his ankle. As if the walk alone wasn’t enough of a challenge!
A solid routine is beginning to develop with the walk being broken into several manageable sections stopping in between for a rest, a change of socks, a quick massage and some icing. This also makes it a little easier mentally as Jez can aim for a clear goal every couple of hours.
Jez was keen to keep the pace up today so he could finish early as he has a very early start tomorrow so that can know out 10 miles before setting off back to Cambridge for the 2nd leg of the play off semi finals tomorrow.
Our intrepid adventurer talked about the fantastic logistical support he has been getting from those who are driving support vehicles, his medical crew, those who are arranging accommodation and everyone one else who is made it possible for him to walk.
