Day 17 began as normal with the leg massage and blister treatments and we were introduced to Jez’s medecine cabinet which is quite impresssive and includes Benedril (for allergies), Naproxen (an anti-inflammatory) and Flucloxacillin (antibiotic to prevent blisters getting infected) plus Refreshers – not quite sure how they count as medication but Jez swears by them as an aid to getting through the ice bath.
Last nights stay at the Jurys Inn in Swindon went down very well – Jez especially liked the free dinner (Ribeye Steak) and the fact that they had an in-house Costa which gave him the fix he needed just before starting Day 17
Jez passed 420 miles, this morning, which means he’s walked further than any of his previous charity walks and today he was walking on his own which means he has more time to ponder each step. This thinking time can take a real mental toll and so Jez concentrates on breaking the walk down into a number of smaller more manageable chunks.
A very hilly day made life difficult today but the weather was good and Jez made good time to his destination , not far from Andover.
