Mandy Morton returns to Cambridge airwaves

Nicola Upson & Mandy Morton

Nicola Upson & Mandy Morton

Just over 9 months after leaving the BBC, Mandy Morton and Nicola Upson are back on the radio, as guests of Greg’s Afternoon Record Club on community radio station Cambridge 105.

Mandy, who was a BBC Radio Cambridgeshire presenter for 25 years, also spent 13 years as a professional musician. Her own albums are all set to be re-released in 2013.

Nicola, who co-presented BBC Radio Cambridgeshire’s arts programme with Mandy, is also a bestselling crime author. Her latest book, Fear in the Sunlight, features the film director Alfred Hitchcock.

On Greg’s Afternoon Record Club, which airs live on Thursday January 31st from 2pm to 4pm, Mandy and Nicola will play some of the records that have shaped their musical tastes. They will explain what the music means to them. The show also gives guests the chance to talk about their future plans and events.

Greg Butler who hosts the show said: “We are delighted to have Mandy and Nicola with us playing records on air in Cambridge once again – I know they have been missed by many of their fans”.

Between the records, the show also highlights local Cambridge gigs and events in the week ahead.

Securing the future of Community Radio

Cambridge Radio is the Community broadcaster for Cambridge and South Cambs.

Our brief is to give a voice to those sometimes excluded from traditional media. And the presenters you hear on air are all volunteers themselves who give up their time for free. We do it because we believe our perspective matters – because it might well be your perspective, too.

If everyone who listens to our shows, our podcasts, the businesses we feature, helps to pay for it, our future would be much more secure.

You can support Cambridge Radio by giving monthly or by making a one-off contribution.
