Sadly, this year we’re unable to host our popular World’s Biggest Coffee Morning at our Gwydir Street Studios. Instead we’ve a series of interviews with Macmillan staff and volunteers to highlight the amazing work of the charity. You can also find a selection of highlights from previous years’ events by typing ‘Macmillan’ in the search box.
Linda Ness has been speaking with Tamsin Hall, of Wilburton near Ely, who has been hosting Coffee Mornings since 2012
This year she had to think long and hard about how she could still raise funds, and hit on a month-long cake delivery service that has received a good response in the village.
Tony Barnfield spoke with Michelle Hutchinson, Macmillan Senior Fundraising Manager for Cambridgeshire, about an expected £20m drop in income for Macmillan from Coffee Morning, how people can get involved this year and why people with cancer need Macmillan’s support more than ever.
And Neil Whiteside chatted to Cathy Cunningham-Elliot, Manager of the Macmillan Benefit Advice Service for Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire, hosted by Suffolk County Council.
Her team help people struggling with the costs of cancer to understand and access the benefits they may be eligible for. She organised a virtual Coffee Morning for her colleagues.
Neil also meets Sarah Goodman, Macmillan Cancer Navigator at Addenbrookes Hospital
Sarah helps people recently diagnosed with cancer to access practical and emotional support in their local area, tailored to their individual needs. She has worked in cancer for 16 years and supports around 100 people at any one time.
