Introduction

Hello, and welcome to the Cambridge105 Studio Construction Blog.

The Flavour and Evening Under Lamplight teams at the temporary studio

Over the next few weeks, Cambridge105 shall be preparing to move from its studio in the front room of station director Axel Minet’s house, to its new premises on Gwydir Street.

We are all very grateful to Axel for giving the station a home since we received our broadcast license back in July and although we shall miss the home comforts his house offered, we are excited to move into our new studios. However, we do have to build them first.

Whilst Cambridge105 shall be documenting the construction of the studios for our own records, we thought we’d share our story here on the website. We hope by doing so, we can show the community of Cambridge how much team work and effort has gone into building the studios their community station will broadcast from. We also hope this will become a useful resource for other parties looking to set up a radio station of their own.

Securing the future of Community Radio

Cambridge Radio is the Community broadcaster for Cambridge and South Cambs.

Our brief is to give a voice to those sometimes excluded from traditional media. And the presenters you hear on air are all volunteers themselves who give up their time for free. We do it because we believe our perspective matters – because it might well be your perspective, too.

If everyone who listens to our shows, our podcasts, the businesses we feature, helps to pay for it, our future would be much more secure.

You can support Cambridge Radio by giving monthly or by making a one-off contribution.
