Sawston Joint Conference
Saturday April 11
The joint conference of the Cambridgeshire Association for Local History and the Sawston Village History Society on April 11th 2026 in the Church Hall of Sawston’s Catholic Church from 10.00 to 4.00 will include talks by well-known historians on the history of the village, its archaeology and development, church and chapel, and its transport system through the ages, set within the wider context of South Cambridgeshire and social, cultural and economic changes.
The Conference also marks the celebration of the hundredth anniversary of the birth of Mary Challis one of the village’s benefactors who bequeathed her house and garden to the A M Challis Trust for the benefit of the inhabitants of Sawston. A member of the Trust will talk about her life and work.
Challis House is on Sawston High Street, and the garden behind house is a haven of peace in the middle of a busy village.
