A Victorian Farmer’s Year
Following his appearances on the hugely popular BBC TV series Victorian Farm, veteran squeezebox maestro John Kirkpatrick presents a programme of traditional music taking us through a year in the countryside. This collection of buoyant working songs reflects the highs and lows of the seasons, and gives an authentic voice to traditional ways of life. Handed down through generations, John performs farmers songs about celebrations, the miracles of life and renewal, sweat and muck, snorting, grunting, and heaving; songs to keep the spirits high amidst the hardships of late 19th century agricultural life.
John Kirkpatrick is one of folk’s greatest traditional music exponents.
