Cambridge Challenges 26/06/2022

Former City Council leader Lewis Herbert investigates some of the issues being faced by Cambridge residents. On this month’s programme, Lewis looks at how families are coping with the rising cost of living with contributions from the Citizens Advice Bureau, Red Hen Project, and Cambridge Aid.

Please be generous and play your part in tackling the 2022 Cambridge Inequality Challenge – that too many of our city’s residents lack enough to live on

Help Three of the many Cambridge voluntary groups/charities whose help is vital for people in sometimes desperate need.

Make a DONATION or volunteer/fundraise to help

Cambridge Aid
Giving out 100s of one-off grants of up to £200, more in 2022 than ever before, because family income and benefits fall way behind basic family budgets, particularly when people get sudden, unexpected big bills.
cambridgeaid.org for online donations and the great work they do.

Red Hen Project
Amazing work and in depth support for families and children in North Cambridge, including increasing numbers struggling financially with rising food and energy bills.
Email them at givesupport@redhenproject.org or contact 07862 380222 and www.redhenproject.org

Cambridge CAB
Providing vital advice and energy help. Helping everyone to decipher the mess of poorly promoted Government schemes, some with only 50% take up. And training voluntary workers and council staff across Cambridge so they pass on great advice to stop people missing out on vital Govt grants and funding. Make a donation or ask about volunteering.

Securing the future of Community Radio

Cambridge Radio is the Community broadcaster for Cambridge and South Cambs.

Our brief is to give a voice to those sometimes excluded from traditional media. And the presenters you hear on air are all volunteers themselves who give up their time for free. We do it because we believe our perspective matters – because it might well be your perspective, too.

If everyone who listens to our shows, our podcasts, the businesses we feature, helps to pay for it, our future would be much more secure.

You can support Cambridge Radio by giving monthly or by making a one-off contribution.
