Cambridge United have made their second signing of the window bringing in young midfielder Paul Lewis from Macclesfield Town. The 22 year old midfielder signs for an undisclosed fee on a 3 and a half year deal.
A youth product of Macclesfield Town, Lewis has been there for 4 years now, in that time making 94 league appearances and scoring 16 times. Described as a box to box midfielder who likes to get stuck in he could be what Cambridge require to solidify their promotion push. His record for goals is only improving season upon season too.
With a 3 and a half year deal it’s clear Derry and the staff see Lewis as a future mainstay in the team, possibly playing in the 2 supporting Berry in midfield. He has a small history of some niggling injuries but Derry and the staff will look to get him through that and ease him into the team.
With the U’s making 2 signings already it’s not clear how much will be left for more improvements. It appears Barry Corr has picked up a thigh strain during his recovery so perhaps the U’s will be on the look out for another striking option as currently it all relies on Uche Ikpeazu’s fitness. Cambridge United play 3pm on Saturday the 14th at the Cambs Glass Stadium against Blackpool. Tune into 105 Sport for updates.
