To celebrate the Jubilee Bank Holiday, The city of Cambridge’s community radio station – Cambridge 105 and its volunteers are taking advantage of a long weekend to get behind the microphone and contribute towards a marathon of non stop live programmes.
Following the huge success of our first marathon attempt in July 2011 when we completed 66 hours on air, this time we’re going even bigger with, appropriately, 105 hours on air!
Programmes will be presented live from the stations studios on Gwydir Street in the heart of Cambridge, as well as an 8 hour outside broadcast at the city’s largest free event – Strawberry Fair which takes place on the city’s Midsummer Common.
There will be programmes to suit all tastes featuring live sessions from local musicians as well as shows playing dance, disco, soul, classical, folk, pop, rock and indie music.
Each programme is presented by a volunteer who is giving up time out of their weekend to present for free – whether it’s morning, noon or overnight!
It all starts on Friday, 1st June at 3pm and concludes on Tuesday, 5th June.
Listeners can tune in on 105 FM or listen online via cambridge105.co.uk
