Cambridge City Foodbank bid for City Council Essentials Guarantee backing

Cambridge City Foodbank is to ask the City Council to support its Essentials Guarantee, which would ensure that the basic rate of Universal Credit at least covers the cost of essentials like food, household bills and travel.

For the first time in Cambridge City Foodbank’s 14 year history, the majority of its visitors are requiring long-term support rather than one-off visits.cKate McIntosh from the Foodbank has been telling Julian Clover more about what the Essentials Guarantee would cover.

Cambridge 105 Radio is the Community broadcaster for the city and South Cambridgeshire.

Our brief is to give a voice to those sometimes excluded from traditional media. And the presenters you hear on air are all volunteers themselves who give up their time for free. We do it because we believe our perspective matters – because it might well be your perspective, too.
