On April 27th Cambridge United director of football Jez George will set out to walk 676 miles – a marathon a day for 26 days – starting at Newcastle United and finishing on 23rd May at Norwich City via every Premier League stadium in the country, and ending with a Fundraising Gala Dinner in Cambridge.
Cambridge 105 is supporting the walk – which aims to raise £200,000 for the club’s Community Trust – with regular updates on 105 Breakfast, 105 Drive and From the Terraces, the Sunday evening football fanzine.
Tim Armitage will be in Newcastle for the start of the walk and will catch up with Jez when he reaches the midlands on the weekend of May 10/11. Tim will also be in Norwich to meet Jez on May 23.
Cambridge United created a Community Trust three years ago to replicate the status and reputation of the Youth Development Scheme and implement Cambridge United’s vision of the club being at the centre of the community.
The club is asking for donations to be made through its Just Giving page.
