CAMBRIDGE – JULY 18, 2012. Community radio station Cambridge 105 is giving local bands the chance to play live both on stage and across the city of Cambridge.
The New Music Generator forms a regular part of Cambridge 105’s output and now the station is taking the feature on the road. The first live session was held on Wednesday evening (July 11th) at The Portland Arms on Chesterton Road and featured local bands Music & Spies, Motortapes and headliners Issac’s Aircraft.
A near capacity crowd enjoyed three hours of music, which was also heard over the airwaves on 105 FM.
All the bands featured have regularly appeared on Cambridge 105 and performed for free with the proceeds going to help fund the station’s ongoing commitment to the Cambridge music scene.
Station Manager Tim Willett, who hosted the evening, said: “Cambridge has so much musical talent and I continue to be amazed at what the city has to offer. The next gig will be in September, after which we plan to hold them on a monthly basis.”
