Cambridge 105 ready to Do Something Funny for Money

red-nose-day-13Cambridge 105 will be out on the streets of Cambridge for Red Nose Day this Friday, raising money for Comic Relief with live music and entertainment, from across the city.

The day starts at 7am when 105 Breakfast with Tim & Lottie comes live from Trumpington Park and Ride. Our outside broadcast unit ‘Flossie’ will greet commuters as they set off on the final day of the working week – inviting listeners to sponsor 15-minute segments of the programme for Comic Relief – and collecting your spare change! Tim & Lottie will also be undertaking their own ‘funny for money’ challenge.

From 11am Julian Clover and Pete Robbins will be with shoppers on Sidney Street including live music from artists including Flaming June then between 2pm and 4pm Matt Webb and Leigh Last come live from Sainsbury’s Coldhams Lane.

Live reports continue through until 8pm, when Cambridge 105 continues its coverage of the Cambridge Band Competition live from The Portland Arms.

Information on Red Nose Day 2013

Red Nose Day 2013 is heading your way on Friday 15th March when the great British public will once again be asked to Do Something Funny for Money.

By raising cash this Red Nose Day, you’re helping to change lives forever. That’s because Comic Relief spends the money raised to help change the lives of poor, vulnerable and disadvantaged people across the UK and Africa.

Comic Relief was launched on Christmas Day in 1985, live on BBC One. At that time, a devastating famine was crippling Ethiopia and something had to be done. That something was Comic Relief. The idea was simple – Comic Relief would make the public laugh while they raised money to help people in desperate need.

Before too long, Red Nose Day was created and the first ever event in 1988 raised a staggering £15m.

This year, 2013, marks the 25th anniversary of Red Nose Day which has raised over £600m and helped to change lives both in the UK and Africa.

Securing the future of Community Radio

Cambridge Radio is the Community broadcaster for Cambridge and South Cambs.

Our brief is to give a voice to those sometimes excluded from traditional media. And the presenters you hear on air are all volunteers themselves who give up their time for free. We do it because we believe our perspective matters – because it might well be your perspective, too.

If everyone who listens to our shows, our podcasts, the businesses we feature, helps to pay for it, our future would be much more secure.

You can support Cambridge Radio by giving monthly or by making a one-off contribution.
