Cambridge 105 Radio granted permission for new Cambourne transmitter

Cambridge 105 Radio is to extend its coverage area to Cambourne.

The communications regulator Ofcom has granted the station permission to commence broadcasting on a new FM frequency in the town.

Cambourne has an estimated population of over 10,000 with a further 2,350 homes planned for Cambourne and another 3,500 homes in nearby Bourn.

Cambridge 105 Radio already features Cambourne in its local news coverage and can be seen at events in the town, such as the recent Cambourne Community Fete.

Steve Potter, Founding Director, Cambridge 105 Radio said: “We’re pleased to confirm that we’ll be further extending our coverage into South Cambridgeshire.

We’ll be broadcasting on 101.2MHz FM from a transmitter located on the South Cambridgeshire District Council building in Cambourne.”

Further details including a start date will be made available shortly.

Securing the future of Community Radio

Cambridge Radio is the Community broadcaster for Cambridge and South Cambs.

Our brief is to give a voice to those sometimes excluded from traditional media. And the presenters you hear on air are all volunteers themselves who give up their time for free. We do it because we believe our perspective matters – because it might well be your perspective, too.

If everyone who listens to our shows, our podcasts, the businesses we feature, helps to pay for it, our future would be much more secure.

You can support Cambridge Radio by giving monthly or by making a one-off contribution.
