Cambridge 105 Radio, the community broadcaster for the City and South Cambridgeshire, has appointed two new members to its board.
Hilary Cox Condron and Vanessa Ackerman will engage with community leaders, organisations and individuals to give a voice to all parts of the community. They’ll work with Cambridge 105 Radio’s team of volunteers to create new programmes and podcasts that reflect life today in the City and South Cambridgeshire.
The programmes will be broadcast on 105 FM, DAB Digital Radio, online at cambridge105.co.uk, smart speakers and the free RadioPlayer app. Podcasts are also available on Spotify, Apple, Google, and all major providers.
Hilary Cox Condron is the Labour County Councillor for Arbury Ward. She is vice chair of Cambridgeshire County Council’s Communities, Social Mobility and Inclusion Committee and works as a participatory artist with communities, schools and cultural venues across the county – creating exhibitions, installations and events that explore and celebrate our local stories and the places we live.
Vanessa Ackerman is a Cambridge based acting tutor, writer and actor. Her play Love No Country was performed at Cambridge Junction as part of the 2021 Hotbed Festival. She also contributed an episode to Cambridge 105 Radio’s platinum jubilee drama, The Easts.
Hilary Cox Condron said: “I love Cambridge. Sharing stories and the love of where we live is important and local radio gives a voice to local people in a way social media and print is unable to do. It’s great to be a part of the team I’ve listened to for many years.”
Vanessa Ackerman said: “I’m excited to be able to contribute to the station and help explore Cambridge from a new angle. Cambridge is home to many people from all over the world and radio is a good way of bringing people together.”
Trevor Dann, Director, Cambridge 105 Radio, said: “Hilary and Vanessa will play a vital role in the next part of Cambridge 105 Radio’s journey and we’re thrilled to have them on board.”
