Cambridge 105 launches Mill Road ad campaign

Mill Road BridgeCambridge 105 has launched a new cost-effective advertising campaign on behalf of businesses on the Mill Road.

An initial ten advertisers will be featured on the community station including commercials from Andrew Northrop Butchers, Budget Rent A Car, Cambridge Dutchbikes, Chenai Beauty, TaxAssist Accountants and Wesson Impressions.

The Mill Road is known for its cosmopolitan nature and range of independent shops. The ads have been booked through the newly created Mill Road Traders’ Association.

Cambridge 105 has produced the commercials in-house, featuring the voices of many of the advertisers, alongside a professional backing track and voiceover. Each ad features the tagline “Take a walk down the Mill Road Mile. Real businesses run by real people”.

Mill Road Co-ordinator Ceri Littlechild: “There are over 200 businesses on the Mill Road and 171 of those are in the association. The ad campaign shows what can be achieved when people work together through joint purchasing.”

Cambridge 105 director Greg Butler commented: “The beauty of a community station is that we don’t have the overheads of other media. By combining commercials from a number of businesses on the Mill Road we’ve been able to put together a cost effective advertising campaign that everyone can afford to be a part of.”

The commercials will be heard on Cambridge 105 throughout the day for the next 4 weeks with a further 10 advertisers already lined up.

Securing the future of Community Radio

Cambridge Radio is the Community broadcaster for Cambridge and South Cambs.

Our brief is to give a voice to those sometimes excluded from traditional media. And the presenters you hear on air are all volunteers themselves who give up their time for free. We do it because we believe our perspective matters – because it might well be your perspective, too.

If everyone who listens to our shows, our podcasts, the businesses we feature, helps to pay for it, our future would be much more secure.

You can support Cambridge Radio by giving monthly or by making a one-off contribution.
