Cambridge 105 is to launch a new weekly music show that will showcase the best in local talent.
The New Music Generator (NMG) will run every Wednesday evening from 7pm, starting January 9th. It will be hosted by Tim Willett, who championed the local music scene on the 105 Drive programme, before his move to 105 Breakfast this month.
The two-hour flagship show will include live performances, a countdown of the Unsigned Chart, and a weekly gig guide.
Huntingdon-based Lucid, Peterborough’s Balancines and Cambridge four-piece Tiger Blue are all booked to appear on the programme in January.
The Unsigned Chart puts 6 records by independently signed or unsigned artists to the public vote.
Tim Willett said: “Cambridgeshire has such a wealth of musical talent that we needed a dedicated programme to give local artists the airplay they deserve. It’s worth noting that local music features throughout the Cambridge 105 schedule and not just in the New Music Generator on Wednesday evenings.”
In addition to the radio show, New Music Generator will also stage live gigs at Cambridge venues including De Luca and The Portland Arms.
New Music Generator is just one of many live evening shows broadcast by Cambridge 105 featuring specialist music, conversation and the spoken word.
Also heard on the station are Night of the Artisans (acoustic, alternate Mondays), Let the Good Times Roll (rock’n’roll, alternate Mondays), Underdog (indie, Mondays), Tony Dellar’s Northern Soul (Tuesdays), The Kipper the Cat Show (78s, alternate Tuesdays), Renegade Rock (Thursdays), The Urban Bassline Show (Fridays), Strummers & Dreamers (folk, alternate Sundays), Headstand (poetry, alternate Sundays) and Ezio’s Songsmith Sessions (Sundays).
