A set of rare hand-painted albums and botanical works by Clarence Bicknell will go on display in Botany in Print, as part of Trinity’s 2026 Arts Week. Among the highlights on show are two vellum-bound, hand-painted albums: The Casa Fontanalba Visitors Books (1906) and the Book of Guests in Esperanto (1910). His Flowering Plants and Ferns of the Riviera (1885) will also be exhibited, alongside other examples of his botanical art. The exhibition runs until Saturday 21 March. Julian Clover speaks to Marcus Bicknell, Clarence Bicknell’s great-grand-nephew and chairman of the Clarence Bicknell Association, about the artist’s legacy and the works being shown.
