Book Night 26/06/2013

Leigh Chambers and Alex Ruczaj present a fortnightly show featuring Cambridge based writers. Each show includes a studio guest or local author who chats about their life and career in the world of literature as well as playing some of their favourite music.

Book Night this week is back in the world of crime with writer and poet Kate Rhodes (centre with Leigh and Alex). We talk to Kate about making the transition from her award-winning poetry to the psychological thriller and how it feels to take her protagonist, Alice Quentin, into the dark and violent landscape of her novels, Crossbones Yard and A Killing of Angels.

We also speak with Jae De Wylde whose first novel, The Thinking Tank, made the Amazon Top 50 Women’s Contemporary Fiction Bestseller List and her second novel, Sleeping People Lie, has done the same and is currently topping the Goodreads Best Books to Read While Travelling Chart.

Our last guest is similarly impressive, Gytha Lodge writes literary fiction, young adult fantasy books and is an award-winning playwright. Gytha uses innovative methods to distribute her fiction, including Wattpad and her own website, where she serializes her work and is currently running a competition for readers to uncover the location of a mystical weapon and win a substantial prize fund, for more info visit www.gythalodgebooks.com.

Securing the future of Community Radio

Cambridge Radio is the Community broadcaster for Cambridge and South Cambs.

Our brief is to give a voice to those sometimes excluded from traditional media. And the presenters you hear on air are all volunteers themselves who give up their time for free. We do it because we believe our perspective matters – because it might well be your perspective, too.

If everyone who listens to our shows, our podcasts, the businesses we feature, helps to pay for it, our future would be much more secure.

You can support Cambridge Radio by giving monthly or by making a one-off contribution.
