Leigh Chambers and Alex Ruczaj head back in time on this weeks Bookmark. The studio guest is historian, TV presenter and bye-fellow of Sidney Sussex College, Helen Castor. She chats to us about her latest book Joan of Arc – A History and how she’s tried to cut through the myths to reveal the real Joan to readers.
We also talk to critic and historian, Jenny Uglow, about bringing the Napoleonic Wars to life in her new book In These Times – Living in Britain through Napoleon’s Wars. And Tony Lentin, from Wolfson College Cambridge, tells how he came to re-examine the story of Sir Edgar Speyer – hounded out of Britain in the 1920s as a spy – in Banker Traitor, Scapegoat, Spy.
