A Cambridge American Football team has launched a player appeal as they bid to build a side capable of qualifying for at least the end-of-season play-offs.
The Anglia Ruskin Rhinos have set their sights high for the 2017/18 campaign and you could be a part of it if you’re a student at the university.
The team is looking for both male and female players and they get their season underway on Sunday, November 5th with a tasty clash against the University of East London.
Kayode Dennis, who plays for the Rhinos, said: “At the end of last season, we were still looking for more players and this year we’ve got a nice set of players ready.
“However, the more the merrier. It’s a great sport to get into, especially in the UK where it’s not widely-renowned and it’s good to grab more players so we can make it more widely-known.”
Players usually meet up on Tuesday nights at 7pm to go to practice and training sessions will also regularly be on Sundays between 10am and 2pm at Coldham’s Common.
Tom Etheridge, club president, added: “A realistic goal for us would be to get to the play-offs this year.
“The team’s not particularly old, but it’s been getting better and better each year.”
You can contact the team by emailing americanfootball.cambridge@anglia.ac.uk or RuskinRhinos@gmail.com or sending a Facebook message to Anglia Ruskin Rhinos.
There are also two taster sessions happening on Sunday, October 1st and Sunday, October 8th.
