Matt Webb looks ahead to Le Tour de France, the world’s biggest annual sporting event which visits Cambridge on Monday 7th July.
In the programme, Matt explores how preparations for the city’s leg of race are going, travel disruption and road closures on the day as well as cycling opportunities locally to encourage more of us to get pedalling.
We get an update from the leaders of Cambridge City and Cambridgeshire Council, Tim Bick and Martin Curtis – as well as Noel Kavanagh, Cambridgeshire County Council’s Cycling Champion about how the planning’s coming on locally.
Matt also speaks to the Director of Le Tour de France, Christian Prudhomme to gauge his opinion on how everything’s coming together.
We hear from Matt Parkhouse who’s staging the Cambridge Cycle Swarm in June, Simon Nuttall and John Hall from the Cambridge Cycling Campaign, Hugh Salt from Cambridge Dutch Bikes about a cycling sportive legacy event he’s organising, Sam Robinson from the website Love to Ride Cambridgeshire, Rosie Juhl from Buffy Playbus about The Tour De Buffy fringe event and the Broadcaster Mark Goodier about his charity cycle marathon in July.
Finally, Matt catches up with 105 Sport’s Chris Duerden for a rundown of the Giro D’Italia, the Women’s Tour of Britain and the British front-runners for this year’s 101st Tour de France.
